This is my last blog of the year. TED talks are on wednesday. The last day of school is next thursday. There is so much happening and so many things to do, I am almost done with this project and I can't wait for TED talks, they are wednesday and I'm pretty prepared! I am sad to say goodbye to all of this and all of you guys, but I can't wait to go further with this project. They are taking our computers soon so I am not sure if I will be able to blog after TED talks. Hope you guys have a great summer! Thanks for all of your support and love!

Lately I have been getting ready for TED talks! I didn't get done what I thought I would this year. My project turned into sort of just a support group for Dirks Fund. This does mean that it can make for a great TED talk! The Ted talk will be streamed over the internet if you want to tune in! More details coming up!

Lately Libby, Linsey and I have been working on a fundraiser where we will sell homemade dog treats and dog collars. We have been calling pet stores seeing where we can do our fundraiser. It has been very good and so far we have met a lot of nice people. We contacted Schnucks to see if they could donate some ingredients for our homemade dog treats. We were able to get in contact with Lisa who is the extremely nice manager of Schnucks and she was happy to donate the ingredients. We were able to get everything we needed thanks to Lisa. We also got in contact with Michaels (the art store) and they gave us some coupons so we could get the fabric we needed  for the Collars. We are now getting in touch with nice people from many stores such as Kennelwood, No leash needed, and Stay Rescue. We will let you know how everything goes!

Lately I have been looking for opportunities to do a public speaking to spread awareness about Puppy Mills. I am hoping to speak a the Dirks Fund trivia night coming up in April. I am also researching Puppy Mills and contacting the Humane Society. Normally I am not a fan of the Humane Society due to them euthanizing their animals, but they do, do Puppy Mill rescues. I am now working on persuading the owner of Dirks Fund to let me do a public speech at Trivia Night.

My dog Sasha was born in a puppy mill. She is a Bernese Mountain Dog, these are designer dogs that are worth a lot of money. The Puppy mill people were hoping that she would give birth so they could sell her puppies, unfortunately, she was infertile and couldn't get pregnant. The people planned to kill her and fortunately we rescued her, but this came at a price and a few weeks ago she died of cancer at the age of 5 years old. Her childhood in a puppymill took a toll on her life. This has empowered me to move forward with my project in memory of her. R.I.P baby girl, I love you.

I hope that this post gives you an idea on how these horrible places can destroy some of the most loyal, and amazing creatures in this world, I will not stand for this and I hope you agree with me, and keep following me on my journey to changing the world.

OK so lately I have been extremely busy working on research. I have been contacting pet stores such as Petsmart and Petco, and asking the about their dog adoptions that they host on saturday. I was shocked to find out that a few of these stores get the dogs from breeders. I then contacted a few kill shelters such as the Bainbridge Humane society and was very disappointed to hear that the kill the dogs because of sickness and space. These illnesses are treatable but I guess that they don't want to spend that much money on these perfectly good dogs.
